Classic Ales of Khazad-Dum
Here are the full descriptions of the classic ales:

The Pippy by the former Galam
A way to get drunk twice as fast and with an extra kick. Galam was playing around with different drinks one day when he carelessly set one attempt too near the fire. It began to boil and soon became concentrated and very alcoholic... just the way we like it! The Pippy has a bright blue appearance, a very smooth feeling, and no immediate taste until about 10 seconds after drinking when the consumer is hit with a very fruity taste in his mouth and his head begins to spin and his mussels are suddenly filled with a new power. One not so pleasant side effect is that this drink has been known to cause hair to grow it the most unusual places. Eeek!

Orc Bite by Silk
Created to give dwarves the courage to face a horde of orcs wearing nothing but towels and armed with nothing but feathers. Ingredients - equal amounts of Khazad-ale, telperion mist, caffine, black ale, brave dwarf sweat.

Telperion Mist by Protoguy
An old favorite of the dwarves, rediscovered and brought back to KD at long last by the Burx. It was originally the drink of the Gods... brewed from the vats of Laurelin the Gold and Telperion the Silver (and not safe for mere mortals). Of course the modern version is a pale comparison, but even so... drink at your own risk!

Dungeons Doom by the former Galam
This drink was created by a dungeon master long ago. After years of being stuck down in the deepest and darkest of places, watching over the fowl beast and people who had dared to break the laws of the kingdom, the dungeon master became weary of his usual work and decided to amuse himself by mixing some of the drinks he had gathered over the years. When he finally finished and gulped down his pitch black concoction, the dungeon master’s mind all of a sudden became very clear. Everything seemed brighter and merrier and he was filled with a new joy. He quickly wrote down what he had used so all could experience this wonderful drink.

The Lucust Lake Drink by Borlogon
This drink was created by accident. Some customers were in need of a 72 barrel of Beer from the Misty Mountains so they asked Borlogon, a former member of the Burx Uzbans, to deliver it. While he was at the mountains he got caught in the middle of a mini rockslide. Borlogon and his barrels rolled down the mountain into a partly frozen- very odd lake. The lake was then even more contaminated by the beer, but Borlogon did not give up. Instead he got some new barrels and filled them with the lake water. After tasting the new ale, Borlogon discovered that it was even more potent stuff than what he had before. After he started selling this beer, a counsel of ale experts deemed it too strong to be safe... but of course that could not slow the rate of its sales in Khazad-dûm.

The Dead Fellowship Ale by Borro
Created many years ago by a group of dwarven travelers who were lost inside the mines of Khazad-dum. They had no chance of finding their way back to the path or the upper levels of the mines so they were doomed to die. All they had with them was some pipeweed from the Shire and a few partly-full bottles of various ales. They decided to save all of it until right before they knew they where about to die, and then drink everything they had at once so they could forget their problems and die happy in that awful situation. Many years after their death, their corpses were discovered.. and what was left of their ale with them. Apparently they didn’t live to finish it all. The Tavern Lords got a hold of some of this ale, studied it, and were able to replicate it’s strong soothing properties.

Loki Liqueur by Pidios
Specially created for the birthday of our former leader, Loki Teshvara, who unfortunately wasn’t able to try it then, because she left for a while right around that time.

Sandbrow Ale by Mithriltears
In all the excitement over making a wine for the new ruler, Marin, a wee bit of Mahal (aule) Espresso somehow got mixed into Mith’s brew. Needless to say it adds a bit of caffeine kick to the drink. The caffeine is truly what makes this drink unique. Best served with limes. effects: inspires singing and turns hair a bright, stunning blue for about 15 minutes. uses: amusing onlookers taste: very sweet

Anno’s Amazing Ale has been known to give the person imbibing it great culinary inspiration the ability give orders with the best of them. It has been murmured that after drinking this ale people stomp off shouting/carving random runes, but this is a debatable effect at best.

Valar Ales by Mithy

Melkor Ale
One gloomy night out in the void, Melkor was bored with the ale that Eru had provided and decided to make a few of his slaves stir up something new. This ale has been known to provoke thoughts of rebellion and enslavement. At first it is very sweet then gets less and less so as the consumer continues to drink. It’s color is a deep crimson with hints of black, and perpetually has a steam coming off of it.

Vana Ale
One of Vana’s many admirers was filled with a passion to make an ale that would fill the one who drank it with a desire to do good works for the environment equal in bulk as the flowers own love for Vana. Well what he came up with was maybe not quite as much as he had hoped for, but still, after a drink, people certainly seem to respect the environment more. It’s color is a light blue and it has a slightly sweet but not overpowering taste.

Varda Ale
This ale has been known to make one go out on a starry night and dance for hours just in love with the starlight. It is rumored that this ale was made in the beginning by an unremembered Maiar in the light of the trees, how it managed to creep into the recipe books of the ale lord is unknown. Varda Ale is best made under the light of Earendil. It’s taste is almost indiscernible, one must ponder it to really find it’s true flavor. The color is a deep blue with pinpoints of what looks like starlight.

The Gentle (Estë)
This Ale was invented by an elf long ago to heal hurts and weariness as an echo of what Estë did for the pained and weary. The Gentle is very rare, but somehow the Burx got ahold of the recipe and toned the ale down a tiny bit. On very rare, special occasions, however, they will pull out the real thing. This ale relaxes the drinker. It’s taste is bittersweet at first and then turns to a sweet nectar, and it’s color is grey.

Oromë’s Ale
This ale was made long ago for Oromë when he was on the hunt. It is rumored to be the oldest specialty in all of Arda. Although Oromë enjoys this ale himself, the one who truly delights in it the most is undoubtedly his horse, Nahar, who gets his hoofs on it as often as possible. Orome’s Ale has a rich flavor that can only truly be appreciated after a long, tiresome hunt. It’s color is a deep emerald.

The Master’s Ale (Tom Bombadil)
Legend has it that there once was an amazing ale created by Goldberry, in honor of Forn. The Master’s Ale is widely known as a modern version of this, but some scoff at the idea. Although neither side can be proved, this ale is still undeniably delightful. It has a light, sunshiney taste with a hint of mystery. It is Blue, with light yellow specks.

Anghak Ales by Mithy

Anghak Ale
Created by the ale enthusiasts of Khazad-Dum for the Anghak soldiers after a long day of training. It is a thirst quenching, typical ale that is low cost, but highly alcoholic.

Azaghal's Own Concoction
A Burx Uzban mixed drink made with gin, lemon, powdered sugar, and ice. The mixture of these ingredients is a tightly kept secret among the Burxes, and only the highest ranking Burx can concoct the drink. Is said to give the Azghal Officer's the relaxation they crave. Served with a lemon and cherry.

Dragon's Bane Brew
A lazy young Burx Uzban once decided that rather than make his own ale to pass inspection, he would combine the leavings of older kegs, or the dregs of the barrel. Well, the stuff turned out nigh undrinkable, so the tavernlords mixed it with a bit of Moria Spring Water and pawned it off on the anghak for half price. The Dragon's Bane fell so in love with the vile stuff that it has been reordered since!

Love Ales by Mithy

Royals Champagne
Allthough the name is deceiving, this champagne is availible for all races and ranks! it is of the highest quality burx wine and is of the best sort as it was inspired by our lovely rulers, Anno and Marin! Sorry folks, but it is only availible for weddings! The Champagne grapes used for this are imported from a vineyard that only grows grapes on the slopes of the lonely mtn, erebor. It is a extremely costly drink but well worth it.

Love is in the air
This coctail is vaguely reminiscent of a daqueri, it is served with much crushed ice and comes in a variety of fruity flavors! but this drink has an odd side effect, once drinking it the consumer will flirt and flirt and flirt! so be warned before consuming it! this drink should be availible at all participating Burx Locations in the following flavors: Cherry, Strawberry, Raspberry, Blueberry, Orange, and Mango.

Ale of the Glomp
This fine flavored ale is very similar to Anno’s amazing ale and Sandbrow ale, but the effects are mingled and mixed. But it is rumored to contain trace amounts of Miruvor and contains some of the same rejuvinating effects! Other Ales of Khazad-Dum

Fizzling Firework Frappe by Mithy
This Drink was inspired by all the clueless newbies of the plaza. It holds surprise after surprise. FFF is a clear drink with little bubbles that float around in it exploding without warning, sending off ripples and constantly making it a veritable sea of excitement. Also, with the help of the mojacs, this drink has little bubbles running through it in every shade of the rainbow. It has a surprising coffee taste but is served cold, in fact cold enough to have a thin layer of ice on top. FFF is best served in a clear glass topped with whipped cream and garnished with cinnamon. Side Effects vary according to personality!

Newbie Ale by Mithy
Beware level Five and above!! This drink will do a number on ya!! It is safe only on for levels 4 and below. Us Burx Uzbans decided that with all these drinks and pipeweeds and such dedicated to level 5 and above it was high time for a drink for the young dwarf! This ale is also in honor of the great job that the DAR does recruiting! Newbie Ale is best served with oranges, pinapple, or tangerines and is a stunning sky blue.

Loki’s Luscious Ale by Mithy
This ale is a concotion only fit for the Valar to consume. It was invented specifically for the fabulous Loki Teshvara’s promotion to the fabled and revered position of Aule, creator of the dwarves. This ale might prompt feeling of impatiance, but also gives great inspiration.

Mighty Morog Ale by Mithy
This ale will instill courage even in a heard of wus- er, we mean not so courageous. It is rightly named after the morogs. They found and rescued their big mattock as he bravely escaped from the clutches of a nameless captor. He would have not been able to escape at all but for the brave members of his clan and their devotion to their Big Mattock. Some say that this closely resembles the Orc Bite, so if you cannot handle that we do not recommend trying this one!

Holiday Spiced Ale by Smar Curlbeard
The special feature of this ale is that it contains a mixture of spices to give a distinctive aroma and taste. This ale is on the sweet side, so low-bitterness hops must be used, and a liquid high-malt sugar. The grains are from an early summer variety, because I insist they give the ale a more sprightly flavor. While the wort is being boiled, a mesh bag is inserted into the liquid containing cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg, bay leaves, cardamom, a bit of pepper and (my own personal flair) black tea. Pure glacial water is added , and then at the right temperature a standard brewing yeast is cast. Primary fermentation should be around a week and a half--a little longer due to a larger quantity of sediment. The end result: A medium bodied amber ale. Cinnamon and cloves are easliy recognized in the aroma, and a complex bouquet of spices greet the palette upon tasting. Best served cool, but not too cold, accompanying young cheeses and sweets.

Strawberry Wheat Ale by Smar Curlbeard
In the early summer I visited the northern confines of the Shire to purchase various ingredients for ale making. While I was there I met a jolly little hobbit selling wild strawberries on the roadside. He told me that the field where the strawberries grew was the site of a great battle over 300 years ago between the hobbits and a band of marauding goblins. I purchased several baskets, and promptly forgot about them until returning to the mountains, whereupon I discovered that the berries had not rotted in any way. I took this as a sign, and immediately set to work on ale using the summer wheat and these special strawberries, of which I am certain, are holy or magical in nature. During the brewing process, not only were proper sanitary conditions observed, but I also had a bevy of dwarven priests bless the ale as it was being made; so that any who consumed it would enjoy good fortune, prosperity and health. The end result: A light bodied ale, golden with a slight pinkish tinge. A very “wheaty” beer with an obvious aroma and taste of strawberries. Best served with poultry, fruits and breads.

Journeymans Jumpin Jiminy Juice by Jorin Mithrilta
I am not cut out for this sort of work as I am actually supposed to be an Entertainer but anyway, this ale is a mixture made by a journeyman but can be enjoyed by anyone! It’s a mixture of Ent-Draught,Morog Ale, Moria Spring Water, crushed Imported Elvish Lembas Bread, Orc Bite and Burx Ale! Its a little strong on first sip, thirst quenching on the throat and pallet on the second, warming and fizzing on the third, and finally Courage, Confidence,Excitement, Security,Wanting to drink and smoke more,Revitilising,Adventerous and Fearless on the fourth! Best for anyone who wishes to go wandering and have adventures but can also be used as a type of Coffee for lazy Dwarves in the morning!

Misty Mountain Mead by Smar Curlbeard
On my way to Erebor to visit friends and family for the holidays, I encountered a strange man living in the Vales of Anduin. He told me of his gigantic bees and the fine honey they made and talked me into buying several large vats. I often use honey in my ales and thought this would suit my purposes, but upon sampling said product, I realized that I would be doing this man and his bees a disservice to use such a premium honey in this manner. So using this honey, spring water from the Misty Mountains (of course!) and a special yeast, I have prepared my finest mead to date. The end result: Misty Mountain Mead is a very pale golden color, and under certain light it seems to shimmer. This mead is highly alcoholic and so good, it’s been called addictive. Therefore, it should only be consumed by those who don’t have any plans the next day! Best served with lots of friends and mighty dwarven songs, the bloodier the better!

Crackling Cider by Kár Silvertooth
A nomal Cider with some small little extras, like giving you a sudden urge to crack some jokes or pull some fire crackers. This Cider is made out of Fermented apple wine with some brandy added. Can be severd cold or warm.

Balins Best Beer by Jolio Beerbeard
When I was exploring Khazad-Dum i found in a trapdoor inside what seemed to be an ancient house. I opened the trap door and found a keg of good looking Ale. I took a sip and it nearly knocked me out. I decided to take this Keg home and to analyse it. I soon found out that it had more alcohol than a normal beer but was still mild in flavour and was delicous in taste. It was probably brewed by Balin, Jolio found that out when he saw some maps, that that house probably belonged to Balin. It had some water of Kheled-Zam in it and also a few minerals from some mines. It color is yellow/orange and it looks sparkly, but one sip and it goes straight to the head, can also make you very energetic.

Mirkwood Mint-Berry Mead by Jolio Beerbeard
A mead like no other mead as most would say. With freshly collected Berrys out of Mirkwood and a few leaves of some wild spearmint. Enjoying my visit in Mirkwood i got stung by a bee, i followed it back and found the hive. taking some honey out of the hive i put it in my flask with berry juice, mint leaves and KD Ale and then on my journey home i tried a bit and really liked it, and so i named it Mirkwood Mint-Berry Mead.

Tears of Mithril by Smar Curlbeard
A birthday beer for our esteemed Ale Lord Mithriltears, this is a lager that will quench a mighty thirst after a hard day of work. It starts with pure glacial water, in which is boiled a combination of malt extracts and corn sugar, lightly roasted barley and aromatic hops. The secret ingredients here are a bit of Irish moss and limes from the Harad regions. Upon cooling a unique Shire lager yeast is used for fermentation. The end result: A very pale lager that almost seems to shimmer. Has citrus overtones and a sweet taste. Best served very cold in a frosted glass. When served at the correct temperature, ice crystals form in the liquid, resembling suspended shards of Mithril.

Farzul Freya by Smar Curlbeard
Another birthday creation, this one an ale worthy of our resident Lord of Smoking! This is a hearty smoked golden ale inspired by her Luscious Love Bomb Pipeweed. The barley is smoked over peat fire instead of being roasted, but the key here is that I added several bundles of the Luscious Love Bomb to the fire. Extra ingredients include rosemary, figs, pine nuts and strawberries. The end result: a dense ale with a very smoky flavor, overtones of tobacco and fine herbs. Caution! Drinking the ale has much the same effect as smoking the weed! Best served cool, accompanying oysters, asparagus, avocado or chocolate.

Marin’s Glory by Smar Curlbeard
For this ale I have combined barley from Rohan, wheat from Gondor and hops from Lothlorien which were boiled in pure Misty Mountain mineral water over a mystical fire provided by the minions of Mordor. Upon cooling, raspberry syrup from the Shire is added and a special elfin yeast strain from Rivendell is cast to ferment the brew. Fermentation lasts for only 3 to 4 days, while maturation lasts 3 to 4 weeks at room temperature. The finished product is then sealed in oak barrels made from dead-fall from the forest of Fangorn, whereupon the Istari have cast special spells of protection and preservation. It is warm-conditioned in the cask for about 1 week to carbonate the beer to the desired level. After another 3 to 5 weeks of lagering at cooler temperatures the beer is ready. The end result: Marin’s Glory is very pale with a tinge of pink. Effervescent and lightly hopped, it has a slightly bitter taste at first, but this is offset by the sweetness of the raspberry extract. Best served with chicken or seafood, and unlike other beers, very good for cooling your mouth when eating spicy foods.
